What you'll need:

  • a piece of fabric (I used a scarf from a thrift store)

  • spray paint

  • an iron

  • freezer paper

  • Xacto knife and cutting board

Step 1: Tape your stencil together

Step 2: Lay a piece of freezer paper over your stencil. Make sure the freezer paper is SHINY SIDE DOWN. The shiny plastic part should be on the bottom so when ironed, the paper will adhere to the fabric. Tape the freezer paper over your stencil.

Step 3: Trace over your paper with a marker

Step 4: Cut out your stencil following the lines that you traced.

Step 5: Lay your freezer paper stencil on top of your fabric. Carefully iron your stencil on to your fabric, working your way across the pattern. Make sure the entire stencil is secure.

Tip: Don't forget to iron on the great lakes! One of the largest bodies of freshwater on the planet! ;)

Step 6: Spray your stencil with spray paint. Make sure to do this step outside so that you do not inhale the toxic fumes.

Step 7: When you have completely covered your pattern in spray paint, allow to dry. Once dry, peel your stencil off your fabric to reveal your tapestry!
