DIY Christmas Tree Skirt Project

Hello artists, are you looking for a fun and easy festive sewing project? Well strap in for a video tutorial on creating your very own Christmas tree skirt.

For this project you will need:

  • The Christmas Tree Skirt design from the Rapid Resizer Design Library

  • The Christmas Start design from the Rapid Resizer Design Library

  • 1-2 Fabrics (enough for x2 30” circles)

  • Fabric chalk or a marker

  • Scissors

  • Tape

  • An Iron

  • A Sewing Machine

  • Felt

  • Fabric Glue

  • Pins

With your supplies assembled, you will start by cutting out and taping together the circular tree skirt template.

Next, trace this design twice onto fabric, so that there is a top and bottom later. Cut out the design, leaving around an ich of seam allowance.

Once cut out, pin both layers together along the outer line and also the inner circle. Sew along these pin lines creating a tubular donut.

Flip the tube inside out and iron it flat, also ironing down the open ends’ seam allowance. Next, sew the two open ends closed.

Lastly, feel free to embellish the skirt with a design from the Design Library in felt. I chose to use the Christmas star design and glued down the white felt stars for an added festive touch.

That’s it, you have a homemade Christmas tree skirt that can be admired for years to come!
