The Inspiration Behind Rapid Resizer

Curious about the origins of Rapid Resizer? As we approach our 25th anniversary, we're excited to unveil the story behind our journey! Special thank you to Donna Roberts for graciously sharing her stunning stained glass creations, featured below.

“My mother was struggling to enlarge a stained glass pattern. This was in 1998 when awkwardly using the library’s photocopier was one of the better solutions.

At the time, I hoped to become self-employed and was looking for a useful idea. A program could take a design from your scanner, scale it to any size and print it across pages on your home printer. (Of course, artists usually now get their designs from the Internet rather than scanning a book.)

Being inexperienced, I over-complicated / procrastinated the process but eventually released version 1.0. After a few months, the first artist bought the program!

Customers soon informed me that it was useful for mediums well beyond stained glass: woodworking, fabric arts, calligraphy, neon signs, and countless more. And then of uses beyond art: maps, model airplanes, motorcycle accessories—and users keep surprising me with new applications.”
